Takutai Moana
Representing the interests of Te Ātiawa ki Kāpiti to ensure our customary interests in common marine and coastal areas on the Kāpiti Coast are recognised is a key component of the trusts strategic and long term mahi.
Customary marine title ensures Te Ātiawa ki Kāpiti is able to exercise our rights in relation to local and central government activity that impact marine and coastal areas including resource consents and permits, conservation activity, marine mammal watch permits and wāhi tapu restrictions.
Over the last few years, we have actively worked with the Te Arawhiti to develop and progress our Takutai Moana application.
Our Takutai Moana application is currently in the “evidence gathering” phase of the High Court Process.
