Representing the interests of Te Ātiawa ki Kāpiti to ensure the sustainability of our taiao is a primary focus for Ātiawa ki Whakarongotai Charitable Trust.
REVIEW RESOURCE CONSENT APPLICATIONS
When a resource consent application is submitted to local or central government, we review the application and make submissions to protect the environmental, cultural, social and hauora interests of Te Ātiawa ki Kāpiti.
This mahi is an important part of ensuring the views and interests of Te Ātiawa ki Kāpiti are represented.
ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY DEVELOPMENT
Closely aligned with our Resource Consent mahi, we work proactively with Kāpiti District Council, Greater Wellington Regional Council and other central government agencies to develop environmental policy to ensure the protection of our interests.
ENVIRONMENTAL RESTORATION KAUPAPA
Ātiawa ki Whakarongotai is actively involved in the Waikanae Ki Uta project and the Jobs for Nature Programme.
These kaupapa are focused on environental restoration, with the Jobs for Nature Programme also providing opportunities for growth and development of skills and expertise among our whānau.
